Mycological Notes 27: Six Gene Phylogeny of Agarics including selected NZ species

This is a long and low resolution PDF file of a phylogenetic tree of the main agaric groups. I used the data extracted from GenBank used in this publication: Matheny PB et al (2006) Major clades of Agaricales: a multi-locus phylogenetic overview. Mycologia, 98: 982–995.  I generated  a  Maximum Likelihood tree using 18s (274 sequences), LSU (389 sequences), ITS1-5.8-ITS2 (389 sequences), RPB1 (147 sequences), and RPB2 (138 sequences). I added data for a number of New Zealand species, especially those of questionable taxonomic placement, and I have annotated the tree with my opinion on family and suborder boundaries (a number not formally recognised). The tree was done back in 2013 and a number of taxonomic anomalies have since been addressed, such as the recognition of Agrocybe aegerita group as Cyclocybe, and Singerocybe for Clitocybe clitocyboides and allies. The boundaries of Strophariaceae remain fuzzy.
