26th New Zealand Fungal Foray & Colloquium notice

STRICT DEADLINE: Registration and payment due by: 20th April 2012. The 26th New Zealand Fungal Foray will be based at The Globe Backpackers and Bar and the RSA Memorial Club Hall, Riverton from Sunday 6th– Saturday 12th May. The RSA Hall is directly across the road from the Globe Backpackers, and are both in the main street of Riverton, Southland. Riverton is a coastal town 20 minutes drive (30 km) from Invercargill, in Southland, New Zealand. It is close to the Longwood Range and, further afield, the extensive forests of southern Fiordland, the Hokonui Hills and the Eyre Mountains. Typically we’ll find an abundance of collecting sites 30–90 minutes drive from Riverton. The foray will begin Sunday evening 6th May and end on Saturday morning 12th May. Arrival time is Sunday afternoon, from 2 pm. Pizza will be available at the Backpackers for dinner that evening, but subsequent evening meals will be at the RSA hall. The cost of pizza on the first night is included in the foray cost, but drinks can be purchased separately from the bar. The foray programme will involve daily collecting, identification, and provision of display tables of the day’s finds, with a day set aside for a colloquium.

Accommodation:

We have booked the entire Backpackers for the week, but numbers are limited so places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, as registrations are received. Note especially that registrations received after April 20, 2012 may not be accommodated. The Backpackers provides shared accommodation in a variety of single, bunk and double bed configurations, with communal bathroom/toilet facilities. Linen, pillows and towels are supplied.
