New website for the Fungal Network of New Zealand

Welcome to the newly designed FUNNZ website. The website uses the Drupal content management system, which makes it really easy for users to add, edit, and comment on pages. To comment and vote in polls you need to sign in, but I have made this as easy as possible, by using OpenID, so you can sign in with your google account or similar (if you want to). Full instructions on how to do that are here. How we use the website is really up to you. If people want it I can also enable discussion forums.

Ross Beever Memorial Fellowship - Hypogeous fungi

Submitted by Bevan Weir on Fri, 09/12/2011 - 1:00pm

The Ross Beever Memorial Fellowship aims to provide the opportunity for a post-graduate researcher with an outstanding established track record in fungal taxonomy, fungal genetics, plant pathology or botany to work with Landcare Research for up to two years. For this inaugural Fellowship, preference will be given to candidates with research experience in taxonomy of hypogeous fungi and with intent to prepare an inventory of New Zealand species and undertake taxonomic research on a key group, building on Ross's existing research on these fungi.

Keys to Russula and Lactarius species in New Zealand

Submitted by cooperj on Mon, 07/11/2011 - 5:35pm

The distribution and abundance of New Zealand species of Russula and Lactarius is poorly known. Eight species are currently listed as ‘Nationally Critical’ under the current conservation threat classification. Many more are listed as ‘Data Deficient’ due to poor historical recording. Russula and Lactarius species occur throughout the world and are relatively easy to recognise at the generic level, but it is often difficult to identify collections to known species due to variation in key characters such as colour.

Website under construction

The FUNNZ website is currently undergoing a massive change to a more dynamic easier-to-update content management system known as Drupal. There will be some broken links while pages are converted to the new system, but it will all be operational in time for the next foray. The old webpages have now been removed, as everything should now be working. If it is not, let me know.
